Considered by many as Philippines’ miniature version of Niagara Falls, Tinuy-an falls is one of the most popular tourist destination in Surigao Del Sur. Here’s a quick travel guide:

HOW TO GET TO TINUY-AN FALLS, BISLIG
HINATUAN 2
FROM BUTUAN (Bancasi Airport.) Travel Time: Approximately 5-6 hours.

OPTION 1. Walk to the airport’s parking lot and look for a multi-van that goes directly to Bislig City.
OPTION 2. If you intend to stay in Butuan City first, you may ride a multi-van with an R4 signboard. This will take you directly to the city center. (Travel time 15-20 minutes. Fare: Php20)

From Butuan City, head to the Butuan City Integrated Bus Terminal and ride a non- air-conditioned bus (Fare: About Php250) or a public van (Fare: About Php200) going to Bislig. (Please note that buses and public vans usually use MANGAGOY signboard instead of Bislig.) Earliest trip leaves at 1:50AM. You may also ride an air-conditioned bus going to Davao and alight at San Franciso (San Franz) Terminal in Agusan Del Sur (Travel time: 2 hours | Fare: Php125) From there, look for a van or a bus (Travel Time: 3 hours| Fare: Php150) going to Mangagoy /Bislig City.

FROM DAVAO (Francisco Bangoy International Airport) Travel Time: Approximately 7 hours

Easier but more expensive is to simply hire a cab (Fare: Approximately Php200) that will take you to the bus terminal. Travel time is about 45 minutes to 1 hour. A cheaper option is to walk for about 500 meters towards the Diversion Road. From there, ride a jeep (Fare: About Php30) with a Tibunggo – Landmark signboard and get off at NCCC Uyanguren. Then ride a Route 2 jeep (Fare: About Php30) with Ecoland signboard. (Note: it is always best to confirm with the driver if they’re headed or will pass by Ecoland Bus Terminal. From the bus terminal, ride a bus going to Mangagoy (Bislig City). Buses leave as early as 2AM. (Travel time: About 6 hours Fare: Php265)

FROM SURIGAO Airport. Travel Time: Approximately 7-8 hours

Just walk to the national highway and ride a jeepney/multicab/tricycle going to the bus terminal. (Fare Php10 | Travel time: 10-15 minutes) At the terminal, ride a bus going to Butuan City (Travel time: 2 hours more or less |Fare: Php200). From Butuan City, please refer to the information mentioned earlier. You may also opt to go all the way to San Francisco (San Franz) Terminal in Agusan Del Sur, then transfer to a bus or a van going to Mangagoy (Bislig City.)

FROM MANGAGOY/BISLIG, hire a habal-habal (motorcycle) to take you to Tinuy-an Falls. (Fare: 200 per habal-habal, one way | Travel time: 1 hour)

FROM HINATUAN ENCHANTED RIVER TO MANGAGOY BISLIG TINUY-AN FALLS. Go to the Hinatuan Bus Terminal and ride a bus or a van going to Mangagoy Bislig City (Travel Time: 1 hour | Fare: PHP55)

TINUY-AN FALLS FEES AND CHARGES: Entrance fee (Php50/head), Bamboo Rafting(P150 per 30 minutes- Don’t miss this)

THINGS TO DO | OTHER TOURIST SPOTS WITHIN OR NEAR THE AREA

1. Marvel at the beauty of other waterfalls such as Canlumawag Falls, Mendezona Falls, Sibaroy Falls, Kambawi Falls, Secret Falls, Sian Falls, Nyholm Falls.
2. Spelunking at Hinayagan Cave.
3. Experience a boat ride tour at Mone River and be amazed at the beautiful reflections on the mirror-like water of Lake 77.
4. Have a refreshing dip at Togonon Cold Spring
5. Take a look at the wildlife sanctuary in Forester’s Park
6. Visit Lawigan and Shipwreck Point
7. Experience skim boarding on mud at Chocolate beach
8. Party the night away at Espiritu Street

      • I tried the bus from DVO-Bislig which is convinient for me since there are more flights from Manila to Davao plus I made a side trip to Davao on the trip. But Butuan has a shorter travel I think since Davao to Bislig took 6-7 hours via Bus.

        • Thanks Ian. I be coming from Bucas Grande kasi but based on my research I need to go back to Butuan then Hinatuan. But from Bislig how will I go to Davao ? to get bus going to Gensan any idea ? bit nervous though cause I might travel alone . 🙂

Well me and my travel buddy(not sure if sino) be planning to go to Enchanted river and Tinuy-an falls. how much would it cost for us to enjoy the travel? i mean cheaper but be able to enjoy 🙂 we’ll be just backpackers lang kase which i think it would add more adventures right? 🙂 thank you in advance 🙂

  • Hi Sir Ian! My friends and I are staying in Surigao del Sur for 2 and half days. We like to squeeze some time for Enchanted River, Tinuy-an Falls, surfind in Lanuza and Britania Islet hopping. Any suggested place to stay and itinerary? Though I already had my research. Iba padin po kase pag may nag-advise na nakapunta na sa places na yun aside from just reading the blogs.   • Hi. we’re going t o hinatuan next month. We will arrive at butuan airport at around 7:40pm. Do you have idea if what is the latest time of bus or van departure from butuan bus terminal going to mangagoy?? Thank you!
